Exterior Painting

There are 115 homes in Mariners Point which are repainted every fifth year as part of a self-funding exterior painting program. The monthly contributions to this fund are separate from the regular monthly dues.

Washing: Prior to staining the painters will wash the siding to remove mildew. The product used for this cleaning is bio-degradable and all shrubs will be covered as a precaution. If there are any bee hives, wasps nests or other stinger sanctuaries, the homeowner should have them removed before the washing or other work begins.

Staining: Prior to staining, screens will be covered and furniture will be removed from the decks. Everything will be replaced by day's end. Only the cedar siding will be stained. The stain used in this section is McCormick acrylic solid, "Yachtsman Grey." There is a five-year rotation schedule for the homes that are painted. The stain color varies from year to year.

Trim: Wood trim will be repainted with McCormick acrylic semi-gloss "Wheat" color.

Prior to staining, each home will be checked by the painter for the presence of rotting wood.

It is each homeowner's responsibility to replace or repair rotted wood. All wood repairs must be completed prior to staining. All replacement wood should be cedar or a premium cut of wood.
